A man in a suit is getting inside the hall, his heart is beating like crazy and his hands are sweaty. This is the moment: He will meet the boss of the other company to close the biggest deal of his life. As he is walking towards the deal of his life, he doesn't know it, but he is being mesured up. The person at the other end of the negotiaton has already formed an opinion on him. At the very exact same moment, in another distant location, a man is sitting in a bar. Next to him, two magnificent women are having cocktails, their legs are crossed and their beautiful thighs are revealed. His mouth is dry, his blood is boiling, and a nasty group of hormones has just visited the brain, to announce that for the next two minutes, testosterone and adrenaline are going to have a party up there. As he approaches them his minds is doing mental gymnastics to find out what should he say and what not. What he doesn't know, it's that the girls have already an opinion about him. Are we talking about what he wears ? No. Then what ??
Non verbal communication is everywhere: In every move you make, in every step you take, and yes, in every breath you take. People will judge someone within the first 20 seconds that he or she will appear in their sight. Their opinion will be formed 93% from the way he presents him self and only 7% from what he actually says. Most women will decide whether the like you or not, in less than 20 seconds. This will buy you the next one minute, which will buy you the next five minutes, which will buy you a decent flirting time window. Every moment, people are watching you and try to understand if you are socially important or not. What is your position in the chain of command of life ?? What is your social status ?? What is your pecking order ?? This article is about the rules, old as humanity, that decide if a person looks Socially Important or not. Remember though that these habits won't change in one night: You have to practice them every day and every hour if you want to change the way you carry yourself around.
The Rules Voice
1) Be a bit louder than most people. Don’t scream but a tiny louder. 2) Speak slowly with plenty of pauses. Take vocal space in the minds of the people around you. Make a mark. Don't go unnoticed. 3) Your pitch and your tone of voice must resonate from the chest and not from the nose or the vocals. This is a long post but, for the moment, keep in mind that those different frequencies resonate at different body areas effortlessly. 4) Hit at least two tones. Monotones are death for a speaker. Body Language
1) Take space. Own your space around you without trying too hard. Don’t stand around like making an excuse for being there. 2) Move slowly. Cut your speed at half. He, who, moves the least is in control. 3) Stand up straight, like if someone was holding your head with a cord. The top of your spine is not on your neck but on top of your head. So, keep your spine straight. Shoulders should be down. Slow hand movements. Nothing jerky. If you want more information you can read Alexander Technique which is an excellent way of learning bodylanguage. 3.2) Be sure about your gestures. 4) Remember to smile from times to times. Your true smile. 5) Keep eye contact with people around you. If you have to remember something, remember just that.
Relax. It's contagious. Now watch one of the best and most inspiring actors of all time speaking with a very beautiful woman in the second part of the next video. Both of them are doing all the above and actually they are flirting. Marlon Brando IS known to be one of the best womanizers partly because of his body language. As he is commenting during this short film this in not by luck... :)
It is impossible for you to remember all these rules consciously all the time. A person can only hold in his mind seven pieces of information. They have to be practiced and they can be internalised in less than a month of good work. Here is a way to train your body language. Some Good Links On The Subject
